CrossFit has been Bob’s passion for several years. He has seen positive changes in people’s physical and emotional lives as they commit to a CrossFit program. They begin to see their life gets a “kick in the pants,” and they become an improved version of themselves. Bob is eager to coach athletes along that path and especially those who are considered senior citizens. In addition to CrossFit, Bob loves to ride bikes, fish, golf, hike, and help his wife move the rocks around in her garden.
Jared knew there had to be a fitness discipline which could meet and exceed the varied demands of the people he interacted with and his own passions. Training better suited to mastering high-country hunting, dominating on the football field, and maximizing everyday life than the glaring gaps he experienced with traditional gym workouts. Jared attended his first CrossFit class at AMROCK's open house in Fall 2016. The workout of the day included power cleans, a run around the block, and pull-ups. He found a fitness program that fused strength, cardiovascular endurance, and body-weight movements in an endless combination. This was it! Since that day, Jared has worked to continually improve his commitment to the CrossFit discipline and earned his CF-L1 in December 2018. In addition to his passion for functional fitness, youth sports and outdoor recreation; Jared enjoys adding to his collection of Spartan race medals with his family.

Kat has been doing CrossFit for 7 years. On her 50th birthday, she decided to take on CrossFit, as it was something that intimidated her. From there she was hooked—even with her first WOD being 7 minutes of burpees! Kat has always been a team player. She formerly worked as a wild land firefighter where she would exercise and work hard with her fellow fire fighting family. She loves the similar energy and group dynamic from being a firefighter to CrossFit. Kat loves an active lifestyle: spending much of her time with her partner Gretchen fixing up their small 1930s farm house and enjoying the outdoors.

He has a big passion to see others succeed and help them realize the impact CrossFit can have in their life. Matt just earned his CF-L2 in May 2019.
Cody has enjoyed being involved in athletics his entire life. He followed CrossFit for several years before reaching out to a friend last year at CrossFit AMROCK to give it a try. He instantly fell in love, despite being sore for days after one of his first workouts that involved gorilla squats. Cody grew up with 3 older brothers and always trying to keep up with and compete against them in every sport possible. He continues this practice to this day. He has thoroughly enjoyed the competitive environment, along with the community aspect of CrossFit. Cody works in the medical field and has witnessed first-hand the benefit functional exercise has on people’s lives to help improve their overall health and avoid chronic diseases. He enjoys playing golf and spending time with his wife and two little boys that keep him as active as CrossFit. In September 2019, Cody mastered two big accomplishments: 1) earned his CF-L1 and 2) achieved his first Spartan Trifecta. Cody looks forward to helping others meet and surpass their fitness goals.
Congratulations to AMROCK’s male Athlete of the Quarter, Cody Fowler! Cody joined AMROCK just over one year ago. In that time, he’s excelled in strength, speed, athleticism, and has become a staple in our CrossFit community. Last month, Cody became certified as a CF-L1 trainer and joined our AMROCK coaching team! In regards to CrossFit, he says, “I was hooked from the very start. Not only because the workouts intrigued me and pushed me, but the community and friendships I have been able to make are priceless.”
He says CrossFit has taught him about the importance of nutrition and fueling his body, and enabled him to be more active with his family. Cody and his wife, Kinzie, have two lively sons, 2 and 4, who keep them on their toes. Cody works as a physician's assistant for a neurosurgery practice in Idaho Falls. In his free time, Cody enjoys spending it with family and golfing.
Congratulations to AMROCK’s female Athlete of the Quarter, Courtney Marshall! Courtney has been part of our AMROCK community for over 18 months. She started CrossFit as a way to get out of a fitness rut and soon after fell in love with the challenge and fun of CrossFit WODs. Over the past year, Courtney has improved greatly as an athlete and has shown impressive strength gains in her favorite area: barbell movements!
When asked what impact CrossFit has made on her heath and personal life she says, “Oh so much! It’s incredible how functional fitness plays into everything you do daily. I have made amazing friends through CrossFit, and it’s been so wonderful to have something to look forward to doing everyday with people I love!” Courtney also says she would encourage everyone to try CrossFit! This next year, Courtney’s main goal is to get her first strict pull-up. And she is so close!
Courtney works at Mountain View Hospital as the manager of Population Health. In her free time, Courtney enjoys camping, hiking, boating, and game nights with her husband Jared and their three children: ages 4-12. Great job, Courtney! We love the role you play in our AMROCK community!
