Rocky is a co-owner of CrossFit AMROCK, has enjoyed CrossFit since starting in 2014. Rocky is a native of Idaho Falls and is dedicated to building a unique CrossFit community at CrossFit AMROCK. He has been an athlete throughout his life and with that had triumphs, suffered injuries, and continues to fight his way toward being a stronger & healthier athlete. Rocky enjoys the opportunity to coach others and see them reach their potential.
CrossFit has been Bob’s passion for several years. He has seen positive changes in people’s physical and emotional lives as they commit to a CrossFit program. They begin to see their life gets a “kick in the pants,” and they become an improved version of themselves. Bob is eager to coach athletes along that path and especially those who are considered senior citizens. In addition to CrossFit, Bob loves to ride bikes, fish, golf, hike, and help his wife move the rocks around in her garden.
Mauri has a deep love and respect for the unparalleled way that CrossFit trains the body to succeed and be fruitful in all areas of life. She has long enjoyed running, strenuous recreational activities, and boxing. Mauri loves to teach others how to reach their ultimate capacity for true fitness, which in turn fuels all of our physical endeavors; whether climbing mountains or picking up groceries.
Being an active athlete in high school with football, wrestling, track and powerlifting, Matt had an immediate love for CrossFit when he started in 2012. Matt received his CF-L1 in 2014 and coached at Upper Left CrossFit in Washington. He left CrossFit due to work and life, but understanding the impact it had in his life, he wanted to get back full swing. He has a big passion to see others succeed and help them realize the impact CrossFit can have in their life.
Marc started CrossFit September 2014, was certified as a CF-L1 January 2015, and has been coaching ever since. Marc is currently finishing his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at ISU and loves applying what he learns to CrossFit, which he calls, “the philosophy of fitness.” Marc spends his free time watching basketball, taking road trips, hiking, and relaxing.
Dan Beck is a certified Spartan SGX Coach and provides private and group training to prepare people of all abilities to get off the couch and take on obstacle races. He is one of the Captains of the Warrior State of Mind obstacle racing team and also operates Grit League, which organizes obstacle races specifically for kids. He has completed numerous Spartan Races and ultra-endurance events over the past 3 years including the Spartan Agoge on the Great Wall of China and the Spartan Agoge on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
Congratulations, Nolan Anderson, on being chosen as our male Athlete of the Quarter! Nolan has been with AMROCK for just over a year and is an inspiring member of our community. He demonstrates hard work and determination, and we have celebrated as he’s grown in skill, strength, and energy output. Nolan works at the INL and in his free time enjoys spending time with his wife and their 4 children. Nolan says, “Being with supportive people is awesome because they all understand that struggle is a big part of the journey.” And in 2019 Nolan’s goal is to get his first muscle-up. Thank you for being on this journey with us, Nolan!
Congratulations to our female Athlete of the Quarter, Ellen Reynolds! Ellen has shown significant improvement in ability and strength since starting with us 9 months ago. Ellen is a great example of doing hard things and growing in areas of difficulty—nice job crushing the December burpee challenge! As she says, “Strive for progress, not perfection.” Ellen enjoys reading and completing a good WOD. In 2019, her goal is to master pull-ups and complete her first rope climb. She and her husband have five children and they love getting to spend much of their free time cheering at their son’s sporting events, who is a senior this year. Thank you for the heart of determination you share with us, Ellen!
